The Green Hornets are a team formed in 2004-2005 based in Canada. They are members of the SHL and are known to be one of the most consistent teams. The Hornets have won an SHL cup during the 2011-2012 season where they beat Daiku 4-1.
The Hornets set a franchise record, going for 15 consecutive wins, and getting a 17 game point streak for 32 points, going 15-0-2 during the stretch before finally losing to the Airdrie High Angels in regulation 3-2, and their win streak ended against Team X, a 1-0 OT decision.
The team later finished 49-13-8, just short of a 50-win season, but finishing with their best seasonal record of all time, and their first 100-point season. Green finished 3rd in the season with 106 points. In addition, the Hornets' Kevin Marcella, and Bixby Clements were the two newest members of the PPG-defenseman club, the latest since Mark Nilsson. Kevin and Bixby had 65 and 80 points respectively.
The Hornets were regarded as cup-favorites by some SHL analysts. They defeated the Red Nukes in six games, the Lambda Bay Lightning in six games, the Ultimate Royals in seven games which in itself was regarded as the "greatest series" of the playoffs, but fell short to the Branton Nickels, losing to them in six games where they captured their first ever SHL Cup. It was the Green Hornet's second finals appearance and the first since the 2011-2012 Season. Klaus Komos won the Veiled Heart Trophy as the most outstanding player in the playoffs, and Vice Vidal lead the team in points, netting 18 goals and 12 assists for a total of 30 points.
This is the current roster for the Green Hornets.
