Airdrie High Angels in the 2010 SHL Draft, playing in the minor league affiliate for three seasons. Before the 2014-2015 Season, he became an unsigned draft pick, joining Team X and helping them to win the SHL Cup that season as a member of the team's fifth extension line.
He has been described by Nick Phillips as a "perfect pickup player". During the 2017-2018 Season, David scored a personal record-high 30 goals, on a line with Robert Thorman and Igius Gonzalez. During this tenure, he also notched three hat tricks.
